Ridvan Picnic

May 2nd was our community's Ridvan celebration, held in Port Royal Park. It was a beautiful sunny day, with about 50-60 people, including children, in attendance.  A tent was put up and the picnic shelter was decorated with colourful pieces of fabric.

The program was short and simple: the group learnt a song and sang together, and then the story of the Ridvan Festival was shared with the children. People stayed for hours, sitting in camping chairs or on the grass, socializing and soaking in the sun.

Ridvan means “Paradise” and is a twelve-day festival in the Baha’i Faith which celebrates the time when its founder Baha’u’llah announced His station as a Messenger of God.  To Baha’i’s it is the King of Festivals.

Happy Ridvan everybody!
