A group of friends from New West have begun a Baha’i Singing group. If you love singing, you are more than welcome to join this informal gathering, and learn some new Baha’i songs and prayers together.
The Baha’i Faith places great importance on the arts, and encourages the singing and chanting of prayers. Bahá’u’lláh wrote, “We, verily, have made music as a ladder for your souls, a means whereby they maybe lifted up unto the realm on high”.
Only a few meetings have been held so far, but we have already enjoyed their lively and vibrant contributions to the devotional programs of the community. Several members were present at the last Feast in Sapperton, where they led us in singing two songs, one in English and one in Xhosa.
The group generally meets every other Friday at 7 PM. The next gathering is set for June 21st.
